Summer Intensive

Ballet Boot Camp Summer Intensive

July 10-28, 2017

Accelerate Your Training

Oakland Ballet Company’s summer program, Ballet Boot Camp, offers dancers ages 9 and up the opportunity to train intensively with one of the Bay Area’s leading professional dance companies.  This program is perfect for students who want to grow as dancers and artists, whether or not they plan to pursue a career as a professional dancer.

Ballet Boot Camp provides a core curriculum of ballet, pointe, and contemporary technique along with repertoire and a choreography workshop. Each week’s repertoire and choreography will be devoted to the study of a classic ballet such as Swan Lake, Giselle, Coppelia, and Sleeping Beauty.

Attendees improve technique and grow artistically through individualized instruction from Artistic Director Graham Lustig, Oakland Ballet Company dancers, and guest faculty from renowned national and international dance companies. Focus is placed on developing the whole dancer by offering classes according to level, determined at the time of application or at a placement audition on the first day of the program.

Dear Mr. Graham,

Thank you so much for a wonderful three weeks! I really enjoyed getting to learn about the stories of Raymonda, Cinderella, and Coppelia. I am so greatful that you helped me tap into my creative mind by having us choreograph dances. You taught me how to let myself be one with the dance. Thank you so much for being supportive of my ideas and helping me understand how to put dances to music.

– Ballet Boot Camp 2017 student

Build Performance Skills

A showcase will be performed for family and friends at the end of each session. Students are cast to perform repertory and/or original choreography in the Showcase, providing the opportunity to build performance and public speaking skills as well as technique.

My dancer gained confidence, and found a spirit of attack when approaching steps and movements she has not yet learned. – Parent of a Ballet Boot Camp student
