Scene and Heard, OBC’s 2018 Spring Repertory program, will feature new, story-driven ballets choreographed by a diverse array of local choreographers, including Bat Abbit (OBC Ballet Master), Antione Hunter (Urban Jazz Dance Company) Michael Lowe (Menlowe Ballet and OBC Alum), Danielle Rowe (Australian Ballet and Nederlands Dans Theatre), and Graham Lustig (OBC Artistic Director). This program will feature works of dance that are more contemporary in nature.
About “Production in Action”
As part of OBC’s mission to expose new audiences to the art of dance, we offer our educational program, “Discover Dance: Production in Action.” Each season we open our dress rehearsal performances to students and teachers from Oakland and East Bay schools.
Students not only enjoy a fully-costumed performance, but also learn about the technical elements that go into producing a professional dance performance, such as how scene changes work, how dancers work with a live orchestra, and much more. In addition, OBC provides educational study guides and lesson plans that align with California’s Common Core standards.
These performances are reserved exclusively for student audiences, their teachers, and/or adult chaperones. They are not open to the general public.
