Community Outreach

The “Discover Dance” Program

A large part of Oakland Ballet Company’s mission is to bring the joy of dance to everyone in our community, especially East Bay students. Oakland Ballet’s “Discover Dance” educational outreach program helps to fill the gap in arts education in East Bay schools and fosters an appreciation of dance through in-school educational programs, open rehearsals, free community performances, scholarships to our training programs, and ticket donations.

Ticket Donations

Through our partnership with Community Access Ticket Service, Oakland Ballet Company provides hundreds of donated tickets each season to community members that may not otherwise be able to afford access to a live performance. Thanks to our season sponsors, Oakland Ballet Company has been able to donate over 20,000 tickets to its productions since 2007!

Community Access Ticket Service

OBC’s acclaimed Discover Dance program makes the art of dance and arts education accessible for more 20,000 East Bay students each season. We thank our sponsors and school district partners for making this possible.

you include us in the arts.” —Mary Lou Stenger, Teacher, Franklin Elementary

“I was very pleasantly surprised and touched when Graham Lustig welcomed our school to the performance during his introductory comments. That served as a human connection with the experience which set the stage for the live performance and provided our students with a distinct contrast to “screen” experiences.” —John Panagos, Teacher, Lakeview Elementary School, Oakland
